Gowen is pleased to announce Next, a group exhibition presenting around ten Swiss and international artists. The show includes artists who have either been invited by the gallery, as well as artists with whom it has recently started collaborating along with historical artists from the gallery. A multitude of universes and languages thrive through which the artists tell stories, conveying the viewer to unreal, ambiguous and dreamlike environments, both near and far. ‘Next’ is equally a term to express the idea of a passage, of a change, it means ‘which comes after’, ‘the following’ and also something ‘which is near’. The exhibition leads us on an exploration of dialogues and narratives in which past, present and future coalesce into a flow that comes and goes between fragments of memory and parallel temporal realities. Works on loan from private collections are included.

STONE TO THE SUN marks the inauguration of La Grenette as a new entity and city extension of the Ferme-Asile artistic and cultural center.
On this occasion and to celebrate the arrival of sunny days, the Ferme-Asile brings together the works of around twenty artists from French-speaking Switzerland around their link to nature and renewal. A small panorama of contemporary creation in the form of a spring walk, this first proposal begins a series of exhibition cycles and dynamic collaborations highlighting the work of emerging artists and curators.

Gowen presents REVIVAL I – XVIIIe siècle, the first exhibition in a series which units over twenty international contemporary artists whose visual language engages with, reimagines, and transforms imagery from the art historical canon. Co-curated by Laura Gowen and New York-based advisor Rachel Cole Sherr, the show explores various stylistic and methodological interventions in relation to eighteenth-century aesthetic traditions. Elegant portraiture, conversation pieces, landscapes and the defining mores, trends and events of the era are revisited via ever-changing modes of representation. REVIVAL I – XVIIIe siècle aspires to capture the eighteenth-century zeitgeist, connecting the past to contemporary work as a mechanism for understanding and informing about the complexities of the present, whilst laying the groundwork for the future.
